Mysuru: The All India National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) re-exam for admission to Under-Graduate Medical Degrees passed off smoothly in all the 21 exam centres in city yesterday.
As many as 1,847 out of the 7,886 students, who had registered for the re-exam in city centres, were absent.
The City Police had clamped prohibitory orders in 200 mts radius around all the exam centres. The Police provided tight security around all centres with the deployment of a Police Inspector, three men and two women Police personnel at every centre.
The exam papers arrived at Bengaluru in an Air Force Plane and subsequently despatched to other centres across the State.
The examinees were asked not to wear jeans pants, belt, hair-clip, metal ornaments, jewellery, full-armed shirt, hijab, etc. The exam authorities made mike announcements sending out necessary information and giving directions at the centres.
The frisking and biometric verification of students began at 11 am. The gates of all exam centres were closed at 1.30 pm and no student was allowed entry to the centre thereafter.
The exam was held from 2 pm to 5.15 pm with the National Testing Authority (NTA) giving 15 minutes extra time for the re-exam.
The NEET, which was held on May 3, was cancelled due to question paper leak.
