Mysuru: The District Administration, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) as part of National Voters Day, had organised a rally to spread awareness about the necessity of voting and to encourage young generation towards the voting rights in city this morning. The awareness rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhiram G. Sankar in front of Kote Ananjaneyaswamy Temple. Students of various colleges in city numbering more than 1,000 and carrying placards with messages such as ‘My Vote My pride’, ‘Festival of Democracy’ and ‘No Voters to be Left Behind’ in Kannada and English marched to K.R. Circle, where they formed a human chain and chanted slogans on voting rights and responsibilities of voters.
They then marched via Gandhi Square and culminated at the Town Hall where a programme to create awareness on voting was held. Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Vontigodi addressed the gathering and spoke about voting rights, benefits of voting and responsibility of voters. Five tongas with participants carrying placards in it also took part in the rally.
