Mysuru: The first ever 10-day Mysuru Winter Festival (MWF), which features a host of attractions like magnificent Flower Show in Mysore Palace premises, Open Street Festival on D. Devaraj Urs Road, Movies Screening at Maharaja’s College Grounds, Heritage Cycle Rides and Food Mela at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road, began last evening. Speaking after launching the 10-day Fest by inaugurating the Flower Show, Doll Expo, Makkala Habba and a Photo Expo at the Palace premises yesterday, State Chief Secretary K. Ratna Prabha said that tourists visit such festivals looking for newer things which are different from others. Pointing out that Mysuru is dotted with several tourist spots such as Chamundi Hill, KRS, Mysore Palace, Darsa Exhibition, Jaganmohan Palace, etc., she said that the organisation of such Winter Festivals will largely help in attracting a much larger number of tourists to the city. Terming the Flower Show as an excellent one, Ratna Prabha, hoped that the event will further boost the city’s image as an important destination in the global tourism map.
