Mysore/Mysuru: Following the death of a toll collector after he was brutally assaulted by a group of youths on Sunday night at the Toll Plaza on Mysuru-Nanjangud Highway, Superintendent of Police (SP) C.B. Ryshyanth visited the spot and held discussions with the Toll Plaza staff and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Officials yesterday.
Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, the SP said that the Police cannot give security to Toll Plazas. Though the Toll Plazas are built by the Government, they are given to private operators through tenders, the SP said and added that it is the responsibility of the private operators to deploy adequate security personnel. He also said that the Karnataka Industrial Security Force (KISF) provides security to dams, airports and defence institutions but not for private operators.
