Mysuru: Weeks after the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change released the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) to improve air quality by 20-30 percent in the next five years, a new report has said the NCAP uses limited data and its list of 102 cities omits a number of highly-polluted locations.

The report identifies 17 cities in Karnataka that require government intervention to reduce their air pollution levels and Mysuru figures in the list. The NCAP had identified Bengaluru, Davanagere, Kalaburagi and Hubballi-Dharwad. With 17 more cities identified, the number of cities in Karnataka that are polluted by air has gone up to 21.
