Mysuru: The paintings done by Namita Kulkarni, a self-taught artist, a Gold Medallist in Law and a Yoga Teacher, based in Mysuru, are on display at the Painting Exhibition underway at the United Nations Headquarters, New York (NY), from June 5. The expo will conclude on July 10.
The series of paintings being exhibited in the UN Headquarters, New York, is titled: Colonialism and the Climate Crisis. The detailed information is available in the United Nations website (www.un.org). As of now, she has given Artist Talk explaining the messages of her paintings to the viewers on three different days at the Exhibition venue, which was widely appreciated by them. The same paintings which are displayed were sold in a fund-raising event in Manhattan, held by ICAAD, a Human Rights Organisation.
Namita, through her art, has been conveying powerful messages that persuade the viewers to ponder over the subject. In the year 2008, she held a solo exhibition in NCPA (National Centre for Performing Arts), Mumbai, where she showcased 23 of her paintings.
She had titled her paintings exhibition as Timeless Waters to Waterless Times.
Namita Kulkarni had received acclamation from the UN Water Secretariat, New York, for this solo exhibition.
The UN had observed the decade between 2005 and 2015 as the "Save Water" decade. UN Water Secretariat granted her permission to use their logo in her Paintings Exhibition.
A resident of Mysuru, she is the daughter of Nutan Wodeyar, former Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka & Goa.
