This is the first time that 4K-enabled 3D laparoscopy, a world-class and state-of-the-art technology, has been used to perform minimally invasive pancreatic surgery in South Karnataka.
The surgery was carried out by Dr. Satish Durgesh and Dr. Sudish Durgesh, senior surgical gastroenterologists at MIG. The hospital is currently the only centre in Mysuru region equipped with 4K Enabled 3D Laparoscopy.
4k-Enabled 3d Laparoscopy is an advanced minimally invasive surgical technology that provides efficiency similar to robotic surgery, while remaining as affordable as conventional laparoscopic procedures.
Its high-definition 3D vision helps surgeons operate with better precision and safety, even in complex cases, ensuring improved outcomes for patients without added cost.
The use of minimally invasive techniques helped the patient recover faster, with less pain, minimal scarring and early return to normal activities, avoiding the complications usually associated with open surgery. After the procedure, the boy is pain-free, has regained lost weight and is leading a normal life.
Addressing mediapersons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city, Dr. Durgesh, Chairman, NJ Hospital, said, “Mysore Institute of Gastroenterology has been developed as a Centre of Excellence for Gastrointestinal and Liver care. Our goal is to bring world-class treatment standards to Mysuru and South Karnataka, so patients do not have to travel to metros for advanced GI and liver care.”
Speaking about the surgery, Dr. Satish Durgesh said, “This was a complex pancreatic condition in a young patient. The availability of 4K 3D laparoscopy allowed us to perform the surgery with greater accuracy and safety, while ensuring faster recovery for the patient.”
Dr. Sudish Durgesh highlighted the importance of advanced technology in such cases and said, “Pancreatic diseases are challenging to treat and require experience, teamwork and the right technology. Minimally invasive surgery has changed outcomes significantly, especially for young patients, and this case reflects that progress.”
