Mysuru: Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University had organised a function at its premises in Lakshmipuram here yesterday to felicitate Chitra Veena exponent N. Ravikiran, who has won ‘Sangeeta Kalanidhi’ award instituted by Madras Music Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravikiran said that music has the power to unite people. He opined that a lot of practice and determination was essential to evolve a good musician which needs a practice of 4 to 8 hours. He contended that a singer, an instrumentalist or for that matter any artiste should enjoy the art so as to deliver to best performance. Stating that his grandfather Narayana Iyengar was a Music Vidwan in the court of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, he expressed pride of being from Mysuru.
