Renowned Kannada actor Mukhyamantri Chandru has been selected for the prestigious Muruga Sri award. Addressing press persons yesterday, Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru of Murugha Mutt has said that the Bruhanmutt has decided to honour five persons for their services in various fields. Also, retired High Court Judge H. Billappa, Shivananda Swamiji of Hulusuru Gurubasaveshwara Mutt, Madhya Nisheda Andolana Activist Swarna Bhat and Dharmadarshi S. Shanmukhappa have been selected for the award. The award carries a purse of Rs. 25,000 and citation, which would be presented to these dignitaries during Sharana Samskruti Utsava, which will be held on Oct. 24 at Murugha Mutt in Chitradurga. On this occasion, 17-year-old polyglot Janhavi Panwar of Haryana will be conferred Bharamanna Nayaka Shaurya Award.
