Seeking enough funds to take up development works in areas under Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar met Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday at Cauvery Bhavan on Race Course Road in Bengaluru and submitted a memorandum seeking enough allocation for the aforesaid cause in the State Budget. In the context of increased tourist influx to city, which has been adjudged as the ‘Cleanest City’ for the second time in a row, Ravi Kumar sought an allocation of Rs. 810 crore in the Budget which included Rs. 150 crore for developing Devaraja, Vani Vilas and Mandi Markets along with Landsdowne Building; Rs. 75 crore for developing Irwin Road and acquiring land for Hale Unduvadi Project; Rs. 75 crore for Solid Waste Treatment Plants; Rs. 75 crore for developing the Under Ground Drainage System (UGD); Rs.30 crore for road-widening under the proposed Railway underbridge near Kukkarahalli Lake and K.G. Koppal; Rs. 60 crore for Tourism related developments like aquarium and multi-level parking lot; Rs. 30 crore for renovations of Mayura Complex; Rs.150 crore for development for roads in wards; Rs. 25 crore for developing Kukkarahalli, Dalvoy and Karanji Lakes and Rs. 5 crore for developing Ashraya Housing Complex not excluding other miscellaneous works. The Mayor was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, former Mayors Sandesh Swamy, B.L. Bhyrappa and Ayub Khan, MCC Standing Committee Chairmen Mahadevapa and K.V. Mallesh, Deputy Commissioner (Development) Suresh Babu and others.
