Mysuru: In order to make Mysuru a plastic-free city, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath launched a plastic waste collection and processing project, at the Zero Waste Management Unit in Kumbarakoppal here yesterday. Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) in association with Indian Polution Control Association (IPCA) and Reckitt Benckiser had organised this programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Pushpalatha Jagannath said that earlier multi-layered plastic (MLP) was not recycled and hence tonnes of waste was lying around. Now, Reckitt Benckiser, a private company has come forward to recycle and produce energy. This is a very good development. Such companies must come forward to help in keeping the city clean, she added.
