A worker, who was shifting heavy-weight marble slabs, died in city yesterday evening as marble slabs fell on him while they were being unloaded from a truck. He died on the spot due to severe bleeding as the slabs fell on his head. The incident occurred at Lakshmipuram at the godown of Rajasthan Marbles near Nanjumalige.
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old K.P. Girish, a resident of Chikkanandi (Chamalli) at Hampapura Hobli in H.D. Kote Taluk. Girish, along with other workers, was unloading the marble slabs that were brought in a truck from Rajasthan. As the slabs were wide and heavy, at least four to five were engaged in the unloading operation.
