Mysuru: A youth brutally hacked to death his brother’s father-in-law and assaulted two women seriously injuring them over the issue of alimony at Udayagiri Police Station limits last night. The deceased is Aslam Pasha (56), a resident of Shantinagar 2nd Cross in city, while his 50-year-old wife and 26-year-old daughter, who sustained serious injuries are undergoing treatment at a city hospital. The Udayagiri Police have detained Syed Irfan, 30, a resident of Shantinagar 6th Cross for the crime. Aslam Pasha had married off his daughter to one Syed Suhail five years ago and the couple had a four-year-old child. But the couple broke off years ago and subsequently a city Court ordered Syed Suhail to pay a monthly alimony of Rs.4,500 to his divorced wife. But as Suhail defaulted on payment of alimony, the Court summoned him yesterday and sent him to jail for defaulting on alimony. Enraged by this, Suhail’s younger brother Syed Irfan barged into Aslam Pasha’s house in Shanthinagar 2nd Cross last night and hacked him to death with a machete while also assaulting Pasha’s wife and his divorced daughter, Police said. Pasha’s wife and daughter, who sustained serious injuries in the assault, were rushed to a hospital, where the condition of the deceased Pasha’s wife is said to be critical. Following the incident, the Udayagiri Police registered a case and detained the accused Syed Irfan.
