Mysore/Mysuru: Former Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Chairman Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta and Senior Superintendent of Post Offices of Mysuru Division Dr. Angel Raj released Maharani Devajammanni Post Card that has the caption ‘Maharani Devajammani - The Indian Queen who modelled for the worlds first vaccine’ at a programme organised by Anveshana Seva Trust at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday.
Devajammani, wife of the erstwhile Mysore ruler Krishnaraja Wadiyar-III, was the first to receive the vaccine for Small Pox in the kingdom, which had motivated the people to get vaccinated against the dreaded disease. Now, the Postal Department has brought out this post card in her honour.
