Mysuru: The Temple Town of Nanjangud, also known as Dakshina Kashi, has chosen BJP candidate B. Harshavardhan as its MLA for the first time since 1957. Traditionally, the Constituency has been a bastion of Congress, Janata Party and Janata Dal.
Harshavardhan, the son-in-law of former Minister and senior Dalit leader V. Sreenivasa Prasad, defeated incumbent MLA Kalale Keshavamurthy of the Congress. While Harshavardhan secured 78,030 votes, Kalale Keshavamurthy secured 65,551. The victory margin is 12,479 votes.
