Periyapatna: The six were all from the same village—Hunaswadi in Periyapatna taluk—aged between 16 and 60. However, their final destiny was inexplicably linked. All of them died in one stroke as lightning struck them yesterday afternoon when they were taking shelter in a temple following heavy rains.
The six unfortunate victims are Suvarnamma (40), wife of Suresh, Puttannaiah (60), Sudeep (16), son of Mahadeva, Umesh, son of Srinivasagowda, Sujay (21) son of Nataraj and Thimmegowda (60). The two who have been grievously injured are Lakkegowda’s son 16-year-old Vishwanath and Kumar’s son 12-year-old Madesh, who have been admitted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. Shantegowda’s son Ganesh, 18, has been admitted to Brindavan Hospital in Mysuru.
