Mysuru: Strongly opposing the Centre’s proposals to divest stake in Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) through an initial public offering (IPO), employees of LIC, the public sector insurance major, went on a strike yesterday, following a nationwide strike call from various employee associations of the LIC.
The employees who gathered at the LIC Divisional Office at Bannimantap in city, staged a demonstration to protest against the centre’s proposals to divest stake, privatise one general insurer and enhance FDI limit in the insurance sector from 49 to 74 percent.
