Mysore/Mysuru: Just two days after it appointed KAS Officer S. Kusumakumari as the Registrar of the city-based Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), the State Government, in a sudden development on Monday, cancelled her appointment as the new KSOU Registrar.
Kusumakumari, a 2006 batch KAS Officer, who was awaiting posting after she was relieved as Additional Commissioner at the Regional Commissioner’s Office here last month, was appointed as KSOU Registrar (Administration) by a Government Order issued on Apr. 4, in place of Prof. S.K. Naveen Kumar and subsequently, she was supposed to take charge on Apr. 6. But even before she could take charge, the Government all of a sudden cancelled her appointment.
The Government, taking note of the 3-day ‘Ekatma Manav Darshan’ event held in KSOU, had strongly objected to KSOU hosting the event, citing breach of protocol and other issues. The Government had even sought an explanation from KSOU VC Prof. Sharanappa Halse on giving permission for hosting the event and had also asked him to cancel the event. However, the event went ahead as per schedule, which irked the State Government.
Subsequently, the Government ordered transfer of incumbent Registrar Prof. Naveen Kumar, who was appointed just 7 months ago after Prof. K.B. Praveen was removed from the post following allegations of rampant irregularities and a previous history of exam duty dereliction. Now, the transfer episode seems to have turned a full circle with the Government cancelling the appointment of Kusumakumari and allowing continuation of Prof. Naveen Kumar as KSOU Registrar.
