Gundlupet
- Even as the BJP has been constantly accusing the Congress for distributing money and liquor among the electorate for Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-polls, KPCC Women’s Wing President Lakshmi Hebbalkar was reportedly caught on camera distributing money among the voters in Gundlupet Constituency. The video went viral in social media, which has caused huge embarassment to the Congress. Lakshmi Hebbalkar has been camping in Gundlupet assembly segment since April 1, canvassing for Congress candidate Geetha Mahadeva Prasad. In the video, Lakshmi, is caught distributing money to the voters sitting in a house at Annurkeri village coming under Kabbahalli ZP. Lakshmi is accused of distributing currency notes of Rs. 2000 denomination by calling the voters one by one. The video has also caught another woman sitting by the side of Lakshmi, jotting down the names and details of those who received the money. Some people noticing unusual gathering at a house in the village, are said to have video graphed Lakshmi distributing money to the voters. However the BJP has denied allegations that its workers were behind the video. Even as the video went viral in the social media, the BJP has demanded immediate arrest of Lakshmi Hebbalkar. MP Shobha Karandlaje said she would lodge a complaint to the Election Commission, seeking arrest of Lakshmi for distributing money and to take action against Congress leaders for distributing freebies to the voters.
