New Delhi: Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde took oath as the 47th Chief Justice of India (CJI) this morning. President Ram Nath Kovind administered him the oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here. Bobde succeeds Justice Ranjan Gogoi who retired yesterday.
Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and other dignitaries were present. Chief Justice Bobde's tenure will end on Apr. 23, 2021.
