Mysore/Mysuru: “Journalists must remain vigilant in fearlessly presenting the truth to society,” said veteran journalist Chitra Subramaniam, addressing an audience at Mysuru Literature Festival yesterday. Speaking at a session, moderated by fellow journalist Vasanthi Hariprakash, titled ‘Bofors, Bachchan and Beats - How a lone journalist brought down a Government,’ Subramaniam revisited her landmark investigative reporting that exposed the Bofors scandal — an exposé she called a watershed moment in Indian political history.
“Uncovering high-level corruption through rigorous investigation and ethical journalism brought a turning point in Indian politics,” she said. “Despite immense pressure, integrity and determination proved that even the impossible can be achieved.”
