Do you know what is the latest fad in China? It is Yoga. As per the stats of 2014, about 10 million students have enrolled in various Schools of Yoga which have sprung up all over China. Nearly 1,500 yoga teachers are busy earning more than a lakh rupees per month imparting Yoga training. Now comes the interesting part. Ninety percent of the Yoga teachers are from Rishikesh (!) teaching the most sought after yoga “The Iyengar Yoga.” Ironical, that our own Mysuru teachers are not sought after to teach this brand of Yoga, originating from this city. It is estimated that this industry will grow at a rate of 20 percent for some time to come. The demand of teachers is going to increase multi-fold. It is time our young men and women take up this challenge to popularise this yoga professionally all over the world, specially the South-East countries like Korea, China or Japan. The Department of Tourism also can do its part by holding road shows in these countries with assistance from the various Yoga Kendras of city. Do you agree ?
