Mysuru: The Civil Engineering Department of the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), as part of its biannual National-Level Technical Fest ‘AAKAR’ has organised a two-day International Symposium on ‘Traffic Engineering and Management and Disaster Management’ at its premises in city on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. The aim of AAKAR is to promote the creative instincts of students in the field of civil engineering through various inter-collegiate competitions. The objective of the symposium is to provide an exposure to the current and future trends in traffic engineering and disaster management. It comprises lectures and interactive sessions by eminent speakers. The Speakers include C.V. Shashikumar, President, C.V. Associates, New York; Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, IIT, Delhi; Dr. Aravind Krishnaswamy, IIT, Delhi; Chethan Vishwanath,  Senior Engineer, L&T Ltd. Dubai; Dr. Suvir Singh, Principal Scientist, CBRI, Roorkee; Dr. Sudhir Kumar Barai, IIT, Kharagpur and M. Mohan Kumar of FOSROC.
