Mysore/Mysuru: A delegation of D. Devaraj Urs Pratime Prathishtana Samiti, led by D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation Chairman Raghu R. Kautilya, met Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa at his official residence ‘Kaveri’ in Bengaluru recently and submitted a memorandum to him seeking installation of a statue of former Chief Minister late D. Devaraj Urs in Mysuru.
Noting that D. Devaraj Urs hailed from Kallahalli in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district, the delegation members argued that D. Devaraj Urs was a champion of Backward Classes and gave a voice to marginalised sections of the society. But it is unfortunate that Mysuru, which is the home district of the late former Chief Minister does not have a statue of him, they said.
