National Medical Commission’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board President Dr. M.K. Ramesh at JSS Medical College Graduation Day
Mysore/Mysuru: “With India having better medical facilities, the country has turned out into a global health hub,” said National Medical Commission’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board President Dr. M.K. Ramesh.
He was speaking at the Graduation Day at JSS Medical College in Sri Shivarathreeshwaranagar here on Saturday.
Maintaining that there are many fully equipped modern hospitals and health centres across the country, Dr. Ramesh said most of the doctors here can converse fluently in English and medical expenses are comparatively much lower, which are the key factors which drive foreigners to visit India for their medical needs.
Regretting that the medical sector too is getting commercialised these days, Dr. Ramesh, however said that despite this, there are many medical professionals who are following ethics and are service-minded. The doctors of the present generation should draw inspiration from them, he observed.
Stating that in the past, farmers used to gift the doctors with the crops they had grown in return for their treatment, he said medical professionals should maintain value of the noble profession. Those in medical service should not forget professional ethics and practises, he pointed out.
Stating that India is a country which is growing fast on all fronts, Dr. Ramesh said India would be a developed nation when the country celebrates its 100th year of freedom in 2047. In such a situation, it is in the hands of medical professionals on how to make use of it. As such, doctors should upgrade their skills in keeping with the latest developments, he said adding that learning new technologies and techniques and overcoming stress is key for career growth in medical profession.
He further said that medical students who have freshly graduated should build confidence gradually for overcoming professional challenges and achieving success in career.
As many as 195 students received their medical degrees on the occasion. Dr. Purna Bansal secured 7 gold medals and 6 cash prizes; Dr. Prakhar Gupta - 2 gold medals and 1 cash prize; Dr. Sandra Anna Sam - 1 gold medal and 2 cash prizes; Dr. Yashika Sharma - 1 gold medal; Dr. Sneha Manosh Kumar - 2 cash prizes; Dr. Shreya Bose - 1 cash prize and Dr. Dyuksha Arora - 1 cash prize.
Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Chancellor of the JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), graced the occasion.
