If voted to power in 2018 Assembly Polls, the JD(S) will not only waive off farmer loans to the tune of Rs. 50,000 crore within 24 hours, but will also provide financial assistance of Rs.36,000 to pregnant women, declared former CM and State JD(S) unit President H.D.Kumaraswamy here yesterday. Speaking to media persons after offering special puja at Pattaladamma Temple in Kaniyanahundi in the taluk, he blamed both the State and Central Governments for playing game with respect to payment of compensation to farmers. Regretting that more and more debt-ridden farmers in the State were committing suicides, Kumaraswamy urged the State and Union Governments to take effective steps to curb the tendency of farmers committing suicides. H.D.Kote is JD(S) stronghold: Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda, speaking on the occasion, described H.D. Kote as a JD(S) stronghold and added that MLA Chikkamadu would be the candidate for H.D.
