Mysuru: Contract workers at Hospitals, under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Horaguttige Karmikara Okkoota, staged a demonstration in front of the DHO office at Nazarbad yesterday, demanding minimum wages for non-clinical workers at Government Hospitals.
Claiming that more than 100 non-clinical workers such as ayah, sweepers, lab workers etc., serving at taluk hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHC) across the district, were denied minimum wages, the protesters alleged that they are being threatened with dismissal for seeking implementation of the Labour Department’s order, which had directed for payment of minimum wages for contract workers.
