Hockey Coorg emerged winners of the Hockey Mysore Invitation Cup 2018 Inter-District State-level Men's Hockey Tournament, conducted by Hockey Mysore, by registering a 1-0 win over the hosts Hockey Mysore in the final played at the University Grounds here yesterday. The match-winning goal for Hockey Coorg was scored by centre-forward Mani in the 39th minute of the game. The goal was an excellent move initiated by defender Palangappa who gave a through pass from nearly 30 yards from the 'D' to Mani who deflected the same into the top of the net beating the Hockey Mysore goalkeeper all-hands-up. At half time, both the teams were level 0-0. The second -half was keenly contested, but Hockey Coorg staved off the stiff challenge put up by Hockey Mysore and clung on to the slender lead to emerge as the victors.
