Mysore/Mysuru: A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot, while pillion rider sustained serious injuries when a car rammed into their bike near ATME College of Engineering on Mysuru-Bannur Road on late Saturday night and sped away.

While the deceased has been identified as Manju (23), a resident of Annapoorneshwari Nagar in Bengaluru, the seriously injured pillion is 21-year-old Vikas of the same place.

Vikas, a welder by profession had taken contract of a work at the KEB Station on Bannur Road. He had brought his friend Manju to assist him. They had rented a room at Mellahalli village and were working since four months.

On Saturday (May 16), Manju and Vikas, after having their dinner near Deve Gowda Circle, were proceeding to their room on the bike at about 12.30 am, when a speeding car which came from the opposite direction rammed into the bike, seriously injuring Manju, the bike rider, who died instantly, while Vikas sustained critical injuries. He is admitted to a private hospital.

Varuna Police, who have registered a case, have launched a search for the car.
