Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday extended the stay on KSRTC strike to June 2.

A Vacation Bench of the High Court, comprising Justices Suraj Govindaraj and Dr. K. Manmadha Rao, which heard a petition filed by Bengaluru-based Domestic Help C. Vedavathi and construction worker H.V. Sridhar, told the State Government and the JAC (Joint Action Committee) of Transport Unions to hold talks on finding solutions to the Transport workers demands and extended the stay on holding strike till June 2.

It may be mentioned here that the High Court, which first heard the petition on May 19, a day before the planned State-wide strike by Transport Corporations’ staff and workers on May 20, had banned the strike, much to the relief of lakhs of commuters.

The Transport Unions are seeking a wage revision of 25 percent with retrospective effect from 2024, while the Government has offered a 12.5 percent wage hike with effect from 2025, which offer the JAC had rejected and planned to go ahead with its indefinite strike from May 20.
