With the countdown for the April 9 Gundlupet by-poll already begun, political circles have begun to bet on who would win the April 9 by-poll and thus become the only fourth person to be MLA of the Constituency in over 6 decades.
Gundlupet Constituency which started as a twin-member Constituency in 1952, became a single member constituency in 1957, with K.S. Nagarathnamma representing the constituency for 7 terms with only a single break in 1978, when she lost to H.K. Shivarudrappa who contested as an Independent.
