Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly opposing the recent steep hike in stamp paper fees, the Mysuru Unit of Akhila Bharatiya Grahaka Panchayat has appealed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to roll back the stamp paper fee hike in the better interests of the common man.

Addressing a consumer meeting of the Panchayat at a private hotel in Chamundipuram here recently, Panchayat President C.S. Chandrashekar said, earlier the stamp paper was priced at Rs. 20, Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 for different types of Bonds such as sale agreement, rent agreement, Court affidavit, caste certificate etc. But now, this fee has been increased multi-fold to Rs. 100 and Rs. 500, which has become a huge financial burden for the common man. As such, the Govt. should roll back the hiked fee and continue with the previous fee, in the better interests of the common man, he said. A memorandum has been submitted to the CM in this regard, he added.
