The Government has banned the installation and immersion of Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesha idols. Even the manufacturing of PoP idols which pollute the rivers and lakes when they are immersed has been banned. In spite of this if there are such idols which are installed and then immersed, the Government will deny them permission, stated Forest and Environment Minister R. Shankar and Pollution Control Board Chairman Lakshman, here yesterday.
