New Delhi: A new amended law facilitating the use of birth certificate as a single document for a host of works and services like admission to educational institutions, issuance of Driving Licences (DL), applying for Aadhaar card or passport and registration of marriage and other services will come into effect from Oct. 1, 2023.
During the recent monsoon session, the Parliament passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023, followed by President Droupadi Murmu’s assent on Aug. 11, 2023.
