Mysuru City and District Freedom Fighters Association has organised a programme at the Freedom Fighters Memorial Hall in Subbarayanakere, Narayana Shastri Road, on Oct.24, to mark the 73rd Anniversary of ‘Mysore Chalo’ Movement. The movement aimed at installing a democratic and responsible Government in the Princely State of Mysore, with the then ruler announcing his decision to hand over the reins to a democratically elected Government, thereby accede to the Indian Union on Oct. 24, 1947. MLA L. Nagendra will inaugurate the programme. Association President Dr. M.G. Krishnamurthy will preside. Former Mayor Ananth and Corporator Prameela Bharath will be the chief guests. A jatha will be flagged off from Subbarayanakere premises at 10.30 am which will pass through 100 ft. Road, Ramaswamy Circle (Ramaswamy Memorial will be garlanded) and return to the starting point where a stage programme will be held.
