In a grand move ahead of the State elections, to promote education for the girl child, the Govt. has decided to make education free for all girls across the State from next academic year. Disclosing this to the Press here yesterday, Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy said, the Scheme with an outlay of Rs.110 crore would cover about 18 lakh girl students whose parent’s annual income is less than Rs. 10 lakh. He said, girls studying in Govt./aided schools and colleges from 1st std. till graduation, excluding professional institutions, will be covered under the scheme. He said, students should pay fees at the time of admission and later it will be reimbursed.
