The Social Welfare Department has announced a cash reward of Rs.5 lakh for grooms who marry Devadasi girls and Rs.3 lakh to Devadasi grooms who marry girls from other castes. The brides must be aged between 18 and 42 years and grooms between 21 and 45 years. Also, the total annual income of the couple must not exceed Rs.5 Lakh. The marriage must be registered at the Sub-Register office within 18 months of marriage, according to a release issued by the Social Welfare Department.
