Mysore/Mysuru: Demanding jobs for children of land losers who parted their lands for setting up of Industries, farmers under the banner of various organisations such as ‘KIADB ge Bhoomi Needida Raithara Hakkugala Horata Vedike’, ‘Janandolangala Mahamaitri’, ‘Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha’ and ‘Akhila Bharata Raitha Krushi Karmikara Sanghatane,’ staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Bannur Road in Siddarthanagar here yesterday.
“The land of farmers coming under the limits of Adakanahalli, Tandya and Immavu Industrial areas of Varuna Assembly segment was acquired by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) 15 years ago for setting up Industries. But so far, the children of farmers have not been provided permanent jobs in industries. After repeated protests and representations, the Government constituted a Committee headed by KIADB CEO in 2023 for providing jobs to children of land loser farmers. Subsequently, a District-level committee headed by the Joint Director of Industries too was formed to look into the matter. This committee received applications from job seeking children of land losers. However, only a handful of the applicants have got jobs in the past eight months”, the protestors alleged.
