Mysore/Mysuru: In response to a recent report in Star of Mysore titled ‘Cracks mar stained glass domes of Mysore Palace,’ which highlighted the issue of cracks appearing in the peacock-shaped stained glass domes crowning the Durbar Hall and Kalyana Mantapa of the Mysore Palace, Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra has taken proactive steps to address the matter.
The report shed light on the significant concern of rainwater seepage causing damage to the Mysore Palace, renowned for its unique Indo-Saracenic architectural style that harmoniously blends neoclassical and gothic elements. To mitigate further damage, the domes have been covered with waterproof German tarpaulins, securely fastened at the edges.
