Mysuru: An elderly woman, who was offered help for getting CT Scan by a man who claimed to be from a place near her village, has been robbed of her gold jewellery valued at Rs. 2.34 lakh.
65-year-old Devamma of Kontoyyanahundi in Nanjangud taluk is the victim.
Devamma, who visited Nanjangud Hospital for getting treated for an ailment, was referred to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru for the conduct of a CT Scan.
Later, she, along with her husband Kappanna, visited K.R. Hospital on Oct. 1, when a person identifying himself as a native of Tagadur in Nanjangud taluk offered help in getting the CT Scan done in a quicker time.
Thereafter, Devamma went inside the CT Scan chamber, when the man, after telling her husband Kappanna to wait outside, went himself to the scan chamber and intercepted Devamma after seeing her walking out to hand over the jewellery to her husband.
The man, then promised her that he would hand over the jewellery to her husband who was seated outside.
Believing him, Devamma handed over her jewels to the man and went back.
But when she returned after getting her CT Scan done, she discovered to her shock that the stranger, who had identified himself as hailing from her village, had fled with the jewellery, valued at Rs. 2.34 lakh.
Later, Devamma lodged a complaint with the jurisdictional Devaraja Police.
