Eid-Milad, Hanuma Jayanti celebrations: Hunsur town turns into a fortress

Hunsur: The District Police and District Administration have tightened the security in Hunsur ahead of Eid-Milad and Hanuman Jayanti celebrations to be held on Dec. 2 and Dec.3 respectively. The Police have imposed banning orders for 48 hours in the town barring the procession route. The sale of liquor has also been restricted on both days besides the Police announcing few traffic diversions. This morning, the Police conducted flag march on main thoroughfares of the town, like last evening, sending a strong warning to anti-social elements. The District Police has deployed seven Dy.SPs, one Assistant SP, 20 Circle Inspectors, 60 SIs, 250 ASIs, 1,200 Police Constables, 250 Home Guards, six KSRP platoons and two Quick Reaction Teams (QRT). Addition to this, 14 check-posts and 50 fix-points have been established in the town. The authorities have also banished 10 anti-social elements from the town and have also increased the vigilance in sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas apart from keeping an eye on the anti-social elements. Procession: People belonging to both the communities will take out processions on the both the days, for which routes have been identified. The authorities also held meetings with community leaders, elected representatives and local leaders to ensure an incident-free celebration. The authorities also denied additional route permission via Ranganatha Layout. As many as 5,000 people are expected to participate in the procession and public function on the Hanuman Jayanti.
