The Union Government has set up e-Shram portal for the welfare of unorganised workers. Accordingly, unorganised workers from as many as 369 fields including agricultural labourers, small and marginal farmers, fishermen, tailors, bakery traders, gig workers, motor vehicle mechanics, drivers, newspaper sellers, photographers, vegetable and fruit vendors, construction and other allied workers etc., can register in the portal for availing social security and other benefits of the scheme. The applicants must be in the age group of 16 to 59 years and should not be income tax payers and non-members of EPFO and ESI. For details, call Labour Helpline: 155214, according to a press release.
