Bengaluru:  The State Election Commission (SEC) will initiate criminal action against those carrying reports to mislead voters regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), warned Karnataka Election Commission Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjiv Kumar. He was speaking to reporters at his office ‘Nirvachana Nilaya’ in  Bengaluru yesterday.

“Rumours are being spread on the efficacy of the EVMs and the functioning of VVPATs. “Let me clarify here that both the machines are efficient where there is no room for any suspicion. Criminal cases will be booked against people who spread allegations against the functioning of the machines,” he said.
