The Department of Handloom and Textiles which had invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to Diploma Course in Handloom and Textiles has extended the date till July 11. The course, having 44 seats, is open for male and female candidates. 22 seats are available at Karnataka Handloom Technology Institute, Gadag-Betageri, 17 at Indian Handloom Technology Institute, Salem, Tamil Nadu, three at SPKM Indian Handloom Technology Institute, Venkatagiri, Andhra Pradesh and two at Indian Handloom Technology Institute, Kannur, Kerala.
Candidates who have a pass in SSLC exam along with English subject are eligible to apply for the course. Selected candidates will receive Rs. 2,500 as monthly scholarship. Male candidates can avail hostel facilities. The age limit for general category candidates is 15 to 23 years while for SC and ST community candidates, it is 15 to 25 years.
