Mysore/Mysuru: MLC K.Vivekananda has thanked Union Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa for granting funds for upgradation of DIETs (District Institute of Education and Training) at Mysuru and Mandya.
In a letter, Vivekananda said that the Union Government’s DIET of Excellence Project Approval Board (PAB) has selected 6 DIETs of the state, including the ones at Mysuru and Mandya for upgradation as Centres of Excellence.
Pointing out that under the initiative, the Union Government will bear 60 percent and the State 40 percent of the cost, Vivekananda said the Mysuru DIET has been sanctioned Rs. 7.56 crore, while Mandya DIET has been sanctioned Rs. 7.12 crore. Subsequently, Rs. 4.38 crore has been released for Mysuru DIET and Rs. 4.03 crore for Mandya DIET, he said for which he was thankful to Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, MP Yaduveer and Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, the letter said.
