Mysore/Mysuru: The State Government has extended the tenure of Dr. M.A. Saleem as the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) and Head of Police Force (HoPF) till Aug. 29, 2027 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The order comes in compliance to Supreme Court judgement dated 22.9.2006 in case of Prakash Singh Vs Union of India and others, which mandates a fixed minimum tenure of two years for State Police Chiefs.

Dr. Saleem was placed under the concurrent charge as DG&IGP following the superannuation of Alok Mohan in May 2025 which was formalised in August.

A 1993-batch officer, Dr. Saleem, during his three-decade-long career, has served in 26 different roles.
