Mysuru: Following increasing debts due to crop loss, a young farmer ended his life by consuming pesticides and the incident has come to light lately.

The deceased farmer is Abhishek (28), a resident of Shindenahalli village in H.D. Kote taluk.

Abhishek used to grow vegetable and other crops in his land and his family members had taken loans from banks and other financial institutions for agricultural purpose and had given the same to him. Also, Abhishek had taken money from his friends.

As the crops did not yield to his expectations and did not get good price to the remaining crops, his debts increased and had become depressed, his family members have stated in the complaint.

On Sept. 1, when Abhishek finished his work and was returning home, he reportedly consumed pesticides on road leading from Kyathanahalli towards Gangadahosahalli. He later called his wife over phone and informed about it.

The family members, who rushed to the spot, found Abhishek in an unconscious state and immediately admitted him to a hospital in Mysuru, where he breathed his last on Sept. 2 afternoon. H.D. Kote Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
