Mysuru: K.R. Circle, one of Mysuru’s most iconic heritage landmarks, is showing signs of neglect, with damaged heritage-style lamp shades and exposed electrical wiring marring its appearance and raising safety concerns.
Named after the visionary Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, the circle is regarded as the heart of the city and is a major landmark frequented by tourists and residents alike. It is also a popular location for photography and pre-wedding shoots. However, several lamp shades on heritage-style light poles surrounding the circle have been damaged and remain unreplaced, affecting the aesthetic appeal of the landmark. In addition, exposed electrical wires have been left unattended, posing a potential hazard to visitors.
Despite K.R. Circle’s prominence, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which is responsible for its upkeep, has yet to carry out the necessary repairs.
When contacted by Star of Mysore this morning, MCC Executive Engineer (Electrical) A.E. Deepak said a team would be deputed to undertake the repair works. He assured that the damaged lamp shades and electrical fittings would be restored at the earliest.
