Dhramashala: A Mongolian boy, born in the United States, has been named as the 10th Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa Rinpoche, the third highest rank in Tibetan Buddhism, by the Dalai Lama.
The ceremony of his anointment took place in Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh, where Dalai Lama lives in exile. The move is likely to anger China, which only recognises Buddhist leaders chosen by it. China had reacted strongly to the visit and warned Mongolia of diplomatic fallout if the Dalai Lama was allowed to return to the country.
