A national level mountain biking and trial running competition will be held in the city on Jan.7, 2018.The event will be held at the Lalitha Mahal Palace Helipad under the aegis of the Mysore District Cycling Association in association with other organisations. Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep will be participating in the event. The organisers will also award finisher’s medals to those completing the race within a stipulated time. To encourage cycling among children, four separate categories have been created for them. Competitions will be held in U-8, U-11, U-15 (12.8 km race) and U-18 (16 km race) categories. This apart, Elite Men (25.6 km race), Amateur (19.2 km race), Masters (above 38 years of age, 19.2 km race) and Women (9.6 km race) will be held. In trial running, a 10 km run will be held for the adults while a 3 km race will be held for children. Separate races will be held in both trial running and mountain biking for women.
